Owned by GM Mark K, the Hurricanes have been given the go-ahead to spend as much money as it takes to bring a contender to the Raleigh area, in hopes of creating exciting hockey and attaining a fan base. So far, their efforts have been successful, drwing in crowds of over 16,500 per game.
"We're happy with our results so far, but we are not done by a long shot," says GM Mark K. "Expect some more changes in the roster that will guarantee us a legitimate shot at the Cup."

The Carolina Hurricanes have traded goaltender Tommy Salo to the Colorado Avalanche. In exchange, the Hurricanes receive all star goalie Patrick Roy.
"As I said earlier, we are looking to make an impact in the playoffs. Tommy has been grrat for us, but I felt that Roy's experience in the playoffs has shown that he can carry a team to the next level. Tommy is going to be great in the future, but in order to increase our fan base and profits, we want to win now."

Canes Focus on Future as well as Present
|
With a great core of youth soon to be joining the Hurricane's farm team, Carolina has confidence with its future. They have recently acquired right winger Mark Parrish to assist in that youth talent, acquiring him from the Florida Panthers in exchange for their 1st round draft pick.
Explains Mark: "We felt really good about our team this year, and felt that our 1st round pick would be very low. Therefore, we chose to trade it for a guy who is sure to be a star in this league for many years instead of taking the risk of drafting a nobody. Parrish has great qualities and is sure to provide some inspiration to our young guys such as Halko, Battaglia, Pratt and Tselios."
